ABOUT BLOW UP ARCHIVE

A visual archive
for screen culture.

Blow Up Archive is an independent editorial publication about the images, styles and visual ideas that outlive their original moment.

What we cover

We write about cinema, photography, television, fashion imagery, design and games. The range is broad by design. A film still, a magazine portrait, a costume, a television title sequence or a digital environment can all belong to the same conversation when viewed through the lens of visual culture.

The archive does not try to document everything. It selects subjects that reveal how images travel, how styles return and how one medium borrows from another.

How we approach the archive

Editorial, not encyclopedic

We choose stories with a point of view rather than trying to become a complete database.

Past and present together

Historical material matters most when it helps explain what appears on screens today.

Visual culture without borders

Film, television, photography and games increasingly share the same visual vocabulary.

Why “Blow Up”?

To blow up an image is to enlarge it until details that once seemed secondary become visible. That idea sits at the center of the publication.

We take familiar pieces of screen culture and look closer: at the frame, the styling, the reference and the image behind the image. The goal is not nostalgia. It is attention.

What you will find here

Essays on film and television, visual histories, photography notes, culture pieces, profiles, retrospectives and selected writing on games and digital entertainment. The site is designed to grow as a living archive rather than a fixed collection.

Blow Up Archive is independently edited. Topics and formats may evolve as the archive expands.
